CRYPTO COMMANDMENTS
WEB3 BEGINNERS GUIDE

Welcome to the ultimate beginner’s guide for navigating the world of crypto and Web3. These 10 Crypto Commandments break down the essential principles of cryptocurrency, blockchain, and self-custody. Whether you're just getting started with Bitcoin or exploring DeFi, NFTs, and digital wallets, this guide provides straightforward answers to your biggest questions. Gain the clarity and confidence you need to take control of your digital assets and step boldly into the future of finance.

 COMMANDMENT #1

When you store crypto on an exchange, you're trusting them to hold your funds. If that exchange gets hacked or shuts down, you could lose everything. Owning your private keys means full control and true ownership.

If You Don’t Own the Keys, You Don’t Own the Crypto

 COMMANDMENT #2

Your recovery phrase (12 or 24 words) is the only way to recover your wallet if your phone or device is lost, stolen, or wiped. Don’t store it online, and never take a screenshot. Write it down and secure it in a fireproof safe or another trusted offline spot.

Write Down Your Recovery Phrase and Keep It Safe

 COMMANDMENT #3

Scammers will try to trick you into revealing your seed phrase by pretending to be support agents, airdrop teams, or wallet apps. The golden rule: if someone asks for your recovery phrase, it’s a scam. No legitimate crypto service will ever need or request it.

Never Share Your Recovery Phrase — With Anyone

 COMMANDMENT #4

Crypto is full of hype, influencers, and FOMO traps. Before investing, look into the project’s purpose, roadmap, token supply, founders, and security practices. Independent research helps you make smart, confident decisions—and avoid costly mistakes.

DYOR — Always Do Your Own Research

 COMMANDMENT #5

Jumping into a token just because it’s pumping can lead to buying the top and losing money. FOMO clouds your judgment. Stick to your own research, plan your entry and exit, and never invest based on hype alone.

Avoid FOMO — Don’t Chase Hype

 COMMANDMENT #6

Fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) often spreads when markets dip or bad news hits. Don’t panic sell. Verify facts, check sources, and stay calm. Emotional decisions often lead to missed opportunities or losses.

Ignore the FUD — Stay Focused on Facts

 COMMANDMENT #7

Use different wallets for different purposes—one for daily use, one for long-term storage, and another for experimenting in DeFi or NFTs. This reduces risk, improves security, and keeps your funds organized in case one wallet is compromised.

Diversify and Decentralize Your Wallets

 COMMANDMENT #8

A cold wallet, like a hardware wallet, keeps your crypto offline and protected from hackers. If you’re holding thousands (or more), a cold wallet is essential. It’s like taking your savings out of a busy street and locking it in a vault.

Use Cold Wallets for Serious Holdings

 COMMANDMENT #9

Phishing scams are one of the most common threats in crypto. A fake link or imposter dApp can drain your wallet instantly. Always verify links, double-check app names, and be cautious about connecting your wallet to unknown platforms.

Think Before You Click

 COMMANDMENT #10

Owning your crypto also means being your own bank. There’s no customer support to bail you out. Stay educated, stay alert, and take responsibility for managing your wallets, backups, and digital hygiene. Freedom comes with accountability.

Self-Custody = Self-Responsibility
